Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my pump keep losing prime?
The most common causes are a worn or stuck valve disc, a clogged strainer, or an air leak on the suction side. Clean the strainer and inspect the disc seat; if the disc no longer seals, replace the valve.
Should I choose a spring-loaded or flap type?
Spring-loaded discs close faster and work in any orientation, making them better for portable pumps. Flap types have lower flow resistance and suit larger, permanently installed lines.
Can the foot valve be used with dirty water?
Yes, but you should clean the strainer regularly. For heavily silted water we recommend a larger strainer surface or an external suction strainer basket.
What size foot valve do I need?
Match the valve to your suction pipe diameter, or use one size larger to reduce suction loss when the lift height is significant.
